Alignment is form of measure which represents how good or how evil your character is, though it is currently only used as a requirement for Super Classes. There are a few ways to increase or decrease your chosen alignment - both drinking Potions and doing Quests is necessary to get the specific alignment needed to obtain a Super Class. You can check your character's alignment by pressing Tab on PC and clicking on your name, however, this does not tell you how close to completing your alignment you are.
There are three types of Alignments, being Pure, Neutral, and Chaos.
Pure[]
Pure is needed for Orderly Super Classes.
For any Orderly Super, you need to be at +15 Alignment. A majority of this can be gained through Heartsoothing Elixirs, crafted with 1 Cryastem and 3 Everthistle. Each potion gives +1 Alignment. This cannot pass +11 Alignment, however, no Orderly quest gives less than +3 Alignment, so you can drink 9 potions and still finish in 2 quests.
Afterwards, you can complete Orderly quests to gain the remaining Alignment. Here is a list of quests you can complete, and how much they give.
Potion Help - Give the NPC a Small Healing Potion. +3
Package Delivery - Talk to an NPC in the Old Ruins. +3
Looking for Help - Give an NPC on the left side of Mount Thul a Minor Energy Elixir. +5
Ingredient Help - Give an NPC 3 Carnastools. +4
Crylight Needed - Give an NPC 1 Crylight. +5
Once you receive the message "You feel your heart grow." at the top of your screen, you are at or above +15 alignment, and may obtain your Orderly Super.
NOTE - YOU MUST DRINK YOUR POTIONS BEFORE DOING QUESTS, OR ELSE YOU WILL NEED TO COMPLETE MORE QUESTS
Neutral[]
Being Neutral is needed for Neutral Super Classes.
No alignment is required to become neutral, as you start the game as a neutral character.
If you have any alignment, you cannot obtain neutral classes.
Alignment can be reset by drinking the opposite potion of your Alignment. If you have -5 Alignment, and drink 5 Heartsoothing potions, you will return to Neutral. NOTE - Needs testing, just going by how I understand how the game interprets values.
Chaos[]
Chaos is needed for Chaotic Super classes.
For any Chaotic Super, you need to be at -15 Alignment. A majority of this can be gained through Heartbreaking Elixirs, crafted with 1 Carnastool and 3 Everthistle. Each potion gives -1 Alignment. This cannot pass -11 Alignment, however, no Chaotic quest gives more than -3 Alignment, so you can drink 9 potions and still finish in 2 quests.
Afterwards, you can complete Chaotic quests to gain the remaining Alignment. Here is a list of quests you can complete, and how much they give.
Potion Help - Give the NPC 1 Abhorrent Elixir. -3
Looking for Help - Kill the NPC on the left side of Mount Thul and claim his bounty. -6
Ingredient Help - Find the NPC in Deeproot and give them 2 Slime Chunks and 1 Cryastem. -4
Someone is Going to Die - Give the NPC 1 Crylight. -5
Taking in the Sights - Push the man off the bridge in Westwood. -4
Once you receive the message "Darkness fills your heart." at the top of your screen, you are at or below -15 alignment, and may obtain your Chaotic Super.
