Overview[]
Arcane Lineage is a turn based game. Battles happen randomly while walking around or standing in a place that can cause enemy encounters.
Encounter Tiers[]
For the sake of simplicity, encounters are separated into 6 tiers.
- Tier 1: 1 enemy.
- Tier 2: 2 enemies.
- Tier 3: 3 enemies or 1 enemy with 1 stronger enemy (low chance of 4 enemies).
- Tier 4: 4 enemies or 2 enemies with 1 stronger enemy.
- Tier 5: 4 enemies or 2 stronger enemies with 1 weaker enemy.
- Tier 6: 3 stronger enemies with 1 weaker enemy (this tier is party locked, meaning you must be in a party in order to access tier 6 encounters).
Encountering enemies on a road will lower the encounter's tier by 1.
Tiers Based on Levels[]

Normal Mode[]
- Lvls 1-4: Tier 1 encounters.
- Lvls 5-9: Tier 2 encounters.
- Lvls 10-14: Tier 3 encounters.
- Lvls 15-19: Tier 4 encounters.
- Lvls 20+: Tier 5 encounters.
- Lvls ?-? + in party: Tier 6 encounters.
Hard & Legendary Mode[]
- Lvls 1-2: Tier 1 encounters.
- Lvls 3-7: Tier 2 encounters.
- Lvls 8-12: Tier 3 encounters.
- Lvls 13-17: Tier 4 encounters.
- Lvls 18+: Tier 5 encounters.
- Lvls ?-? + in party: Tier 6 encounters.
Status Effects[]
Sometimes enemies will apply status effects to you during battle, or some skills can apply status effects to enemies. All of them are listed below.
- Poison | 2%* of max HP lost per turn.
- Burn | 1%* of max HP lost per turn.
- Bleed | 3%* of max HP lost per turn.
- Ghostflame | 5%* of max HP lost per turn.
- Vulnerable | Take +20% damage.
- Blind | Lower speed and two more inputs for quick time events.
- Weakened | Deal -30% damage.
- Hexed | Take +100% damage. Stacks only go down when hit.
- Cursed | Outgoing healing is massively reduced, or even cancelled out.
- Stunned | Cancels your turn and prevents you from Blocking/Dodging. One stack goes away every time you get hit or your turn is skipped.
- Heavy stunned | Cancels your turn and prevents you from Blocking/Dodging. One stack goes away every time your turn is skipped.
- Crippled | Lower speed and prevents Escaping.
*Bosses take 1/10th from status effects
Your Turn[]

When it's your turn you may choose to Attack the enemy, use an Item, Mediate, Guard yourself from damage, or Escape the encounter.
Attack[]
You get the option to choose a Skill to use.
Item[]
You will get the option to use an Item such as a Health Potion.
Meditate[]
Receive 1 Energy, skipping your turn and increasing the damage taken from attacks by 50% for the turn.
Guard[]
Take -75% damage from the next attack, nullifying certain attack effects as well.
Escape[]
You will make an attempt to escape from the encounter. Success rate is 20%; it increases with speed. If you fail to escape, your turn will end and the battle will continue.
Blocking[]
When you're about to be attacked by an enemy, you may Block or Dodge the attack. The white line moves from left to right once, you must click the block button (or space) whilst it is on red or yellow to take less damage. Not all attacks are blockable or dodgable.
This quick time event gets easier if you invest Stat Points into Speed, making the red and yellow areas bigger.

Yellow Bar[]
If you block at the yellow bar, you will Dodge the attack and take no damage and effects.
Red Bar[]
If you block at the red bar, you will Block the attack and 50% of its damage, nullifying the effects of some attacks.
Grey Bar[]
If you block at the grey bar, you will fail to Block the attack and take full damage.
